Stress sometimes overwhelms us and stops us from relating and functioning in healthy ways. Symptoms of stress include anger, panic attacks, social withdrawal, agitation, self-harm , sex addiction and increased use of drugs and alcohol. High stress levels can be caused by a variety of life situations including work pressure, difficult relationships, financial difficulties, a loss or bereavement.

Stress can raise blood pressure, suppress the immune system, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, contribute to infertility, and speed up the aging process. Over time, if not treated, stress, can cause long term depression.
