Psychotherapy Counselling for Traumatic Events, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Psychotherapy Counselling & Therapy in Central London
Being involved in, or exposed to, traumatic events can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Traumatic events can vary and can include violent attacks, natural disasters or unexpected bereavement. After a Traumatic Event, a person can be left experiencing high levels of anxiety and fear. Flashbacks and painful emotions can follow such events as can feelings of numbness or feelings of anger, depression and guilt. These feelings can cause disruption to sleeping and eating patterns as well as isolation. People may feel that they have become phobic to the particular location or situation in which the event occurred.
At The Cavendish Psychotherapy Practice, our London therapists aim to help with the stress and trauma by facilitating an understanding of the condition and the person’s thought processes. Being involved in or witness to a powerfully traumatic experience can have a deep impact on a person’s emotions. At The Cavendish, we understand the importance of the client and therapist relationship, where, working together, an atmosphere can be created in which it becomes possible for the distressing experience and associated links and triggers, to be discussed and explored in a safe place.
